Public Amenity: Cycling Paths
While planning the Aqua resort, The Mission Group has taken care to incorporate other important facets of the Cook Road Tourist Commercial Area in their big picture plans. Public amenities are a key focus of the overall plan and design of this neighbourhood. For instance, the cycling network in the area has been given special attention. Bicycle lanes already run north/south adjacent to the site. This connection will be improved with the creation of an Abbott Street style recreation corridor along Lakeshore Road and cycling lanes along the new Cook Road alignment. The east/west connection will also be re-enforced with a boardwalk promenade link from the beach in front of Aqua, which will connect to the Mission Creek Greenway. A cyclists “parkette” (to be built by The Mission Group) is planned for the west side of Lakeshore Road where the Mission Creek Greenway path heads towards Aqua and the lakefront. This will provide a safe location for both walkers and cyclists to relax or muster and decide upon their direction of travel.

A cycling and pedestrian "parkette" is planned for the west side of Lakeshore Road.
